Somaraja Press is a collection of long-form essays that explore interdisciplinary perspectives on medicine, psychoanalysis, astrology, psychedelics, and spirituality. These subjects are organized into four sections:

Medicine explores the theory and practice of Asian medical traditions, including Āyurveda, Tibetan Medicine, and Chinese Medicine.

Astrology examines astrological and divinatory systems, including Vedic astrology, Tibetan astrology, Chinese astrology (Bazi, Yijing), and Human Design.

Psyche considers the tradition of psychoanalysis and its intersections with psychedelic therapy and spirituality. This section especially explores the schools of Freud, Jung, Hillman, and Lacan.

Conversations share recorded dialogues with friends and colleagues. Posts include an edited transcript and audio recording of the conversation.

The meaning of Somaraja

Somarāja (“Moon King”) is the name of an 11th-century medical exposition on Āyurvedic tridosa theory, Chinese pulse diagnosis, moxibustion therapy, and materia medica unique to the Tibetan plateau. The cross-cultural nature of the text illustrates the pluralistic nature of the Asian medical traditions and signifies my interdisciplinary orientation. Somaraja is also the name of my Āyurvedic clinic located in Boulder, Colorado.
